The University of Saint Francis takes pride in the grit, drive, and heart of its student-athletes, and University leadership believes the spaces that support them should reflect that same energy. When the time came to breathe new life into the home football team’s locker room, it wasn’t about extravagance. It was about elevating the everyday. The original space had served its purpose for years, but its worn condition no longer matched the caliber of the team or the culture being built on and off the field.
The vision was clear: create a more vibrant, inspiring, and high-performing space where players could prepare, regroup, and feel a sense of pride. Though the larger facility houses both home and away locker rooms, along with offices and a conference room, the focus of this project centered entirely on transforming the home locker room into something special.
Color palettes were thoughtfully selected to reflect the Cougars’ brand identity. Modern finishes and new lighting help brighten the space and sharpen its atmosphere. And at the heart of the room—both literally and symbolically—a custom lit Cougar mascot sign will hang as a striking visual anchor and source of pride.
The new lockers themselves represent a higher standard. Designed with individual attention and quality in mind, they offer players a sense of ownership and personal space within the team environment.
Designing for student-athletes meant balancing durability with comfort. Finding the right flooring system that could stand up to moisture while still offering a comfortable underfoot experience required product testing, research, and close collaboration with manufacturers. Careful coordination between locker sizing and existing wall conditions also required detailed field work and a strong partnership with the locker provider.
As the project nears completion, there’s real excitement around what this space will mean to the players. The new locker room is a reflection of a program that invests in its players.
