Fort Wayne Community Schools hired the Elevatus Team to design a phased renovation of the 86,000 sf Jefferson Middle School, originally constructed in 1967. Special design attributes include a relocated administrative suite to allow for better visibility of the entry and enhanced security aspects, a new “collaboratory” suite for active/project-based learning and technology center and re-purposed media center and classrooms to meet the needs of today’s students.
These improvements are in addition to a full-scale renovation that include asbestos abatement, updating all technology and electrical items, replacing the entire HVAC system, restoration of the precast concrete masonry, full compliance with ADA, replacement of all finishes, and replacement of counter tops and casework.
