Elevatus Architecture worked with lead architect FGM Architects on a commissioned project in the County of Franklin, Missouri to work with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. Elevatus Architecture served as the Detention Expert/architect and assisted in the needs of the addition and renovation of this center’s floor plan.
This project was initiated to complete a space needs and feasibility assessment of the existing Public Safety campus on Highway V in Union, Missouri.
In an effort to reduce overcrowding, this project brought a challenge of having it be a live site where the jail was still operating with inmates inside.
The 57,500 sq. ft. adult detention center build-out is forecasted to accommodate 244 long-term inmates; 22 medical/temporary inmates; and 40 weekender/work release inmates. A future phase for the jail would add program and recreation space, and accommodate an additional 185 inmates in several classifications.
The increased area and improvements of efficiencies was led by completing perimeter and interior surveillance system and electronic access control system.
FGM designed the shell of the detention center and also designed renovation needs to dispatch, EOC, and the 911 Center.
