Electric Works

Fort Wayne, Indiana

Spanning more than 1.2 million SF inside of 18 buildings, the General Electric Campus once proved a solid industrial hub for workers in Fort Wayne. As industry slowly declined, so did the campus.

Beginning in 2015 with a Community Task Force determined to save the GE Campus, discussions, ideas and dreams began to unfold as to what this future investment for the city of Fort Wayne could contain.

In 2017, that answer came when General Electric, still the owners of the property, sought out investment groups, developers and architects to compete for control of the property. Cross Street Partners along with Greenstreet and Biggs Development formed RTM Ventures to save this iconic campus for generations to come. Elevatus Architecture was engaged at the very beginning as the design team lead with a large group of architects and specialists to transform the campus into a mixed-use district of innovation, culture and community.

As part of the first phase of development, the West Campus contains a mix of a public market, education and commercial space full of high activity, walkability, and true community spaces for the residents and the city of Fort Wayne. Each building contains specific purposes and become a high energy centric innovation and technology hub.  This massive $400 million development was largely supported by the community and the residents of the neighborhood.

Future plans for the overall campus include new construction of a residential building, and renovation of the East Campus.

“South Central is the hub of the community, and this facility gives our students and neighbors a place to learn, connect, and thrive.” – Superintendent Ben Anderson

We joined South Central Community School Corporation, Tonn & Blank Construction, and a dedicated community to cut the ribbon on the new South Central Student Activity Center.

From classrooms and restrooms to a renovated library and campus upgrades, this space will serve athletics, academics, and community events for years to come. Thank you to everyone whose vision, hard work, and heart made it possible.

A fresh chapter for @lochgroup in Fort Wayne. 👏

Their new office in Building 19 at @electricworksfw is a space filled with light, variety, and purpose. Every element supports their growth and energy while embracing the character of the building’s history.

We collaborated with @weigand.construction to craft a space that meets both purpose and place within one of the city’s most iconic campuses.

I am delighted to express my utmost appreciation for the outstanding work that Elevatus Architecture has done in designing our new central office. Their innovative and thoughtful approach to the project will result in a state-of-the-art facility that exceeds our expectations. Their dedication to creating a functional and aesthetically pleasing space will greatly improve our administrative operations, and their professionalism and timely execution have made this a very enjoyable process. I wholeheartedly recommend Elevatus for their exceptional architectural services and look forward to potential future collaborations with them.

Wayne Barker

Superintendent, Northwest Allen County Schools

Elevatus stays involved throughout the entire construction process. This high level of service is very important to us because things inevitably shift and change despite the best planning. We need them to stay involved so that our budget is not affected. In the end, our projects are delivered on time and on budget and Elevatus contributes to that "now expected" outcome.

Judy Roy

Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration, Indiana Tech

Elevatus did an excellent job helping us navigate our project in Huntington, IN and developed architectural plans very timely and with an appreciated attention to every detail. We highly recommend this firm.

Justin Claud, Esq.

Chief Legal Officer, Boca Recovery Center

When our County was looking for an architecture firm to help us with the process of building a new jail, Elevatus was an easy choice for me. This was a project entirely out of my skill set, but I knew we only had one chance to get it right. Their (Elevatus) knowledge and professionalism is unmatched.

Commissioner Theresa Baysinger

Whitley County Commissioner

Elevatus provided exceptional leadership that was always available, always helpful, and with a client's architect frame of mind. All deliverables were delivered on time. In several cases, Elevatus provided deliverables in advance of deadlines and offered alternatives that saved the company additional money.

Scott Fergusson

Founder, Chapman's Brewing Company

We have had nothing short of an amazing experience with Elevatus. Their team jumped right in and began planning with us right away, leaving no stone unturned from concept through our current state of approaching SD. Elevatus runs effective, informative and efficient meetings and always follows through with answers to questions that come up during the meeting.
