Adams County Sheriff Launches Mural Initiative Following NSA Presentation from Elevatus
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has launched a new initiative to install murals in detention housing dayrooms, creating a more supportive environment for residents and staff. Sheriff Mawhorr shared that the idea was inspired by a National Sheriffs’ Association presentation where Dr. Deanna Dwenger discussed color psychology in correctional settings. With grant and local funding support, the first mural is complete and plans are underway to expand the initiative throughout the facility.
