Taking Shape: Construction Begins on Vigo County YMCA Addition and Renovation
A new chapter is taking shape along the Wabash River. Construction is underway on the Vigo County YMCA, a project that will expand opportunities for health, wellness, and community connection while transforming the riverfront for generations to come.
The project includes 14,200 square feet of new construction alongside a transformation of existing spaces. Renovations will reimagine key interior areas such as the membership desk, lounge, Childwatch, and Parks Department office, while upgrades to the pool enclosure will improve comfort and efficiency. A new second-floor addition will introduce a wellness center and group exercise studios, and a signature overhang will create space for outdoor fitness, events, and community gatherings. Future phases may also expand services with a medical partner and additional renovations.
This project represents a collaborative investment in the health and wellbeing of the Wabash Valley. Made possible through the generous support of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation and designed by Elevatus Architecture in partnership with Garmong Construction, the new YMCA will expand opportunities for wellness, childcare, recreation, and community connection for years to come.
