A fresh chapter is taking shape along the riverfront in Terre Haute—one defined by community connection, wellness, and bold reinvestment. The new Vigo County YMCA will serve as a cornerstone of the city’s riverfront development initiative and a catalyst for healthier, stronger futures.
Backed by a Lilly Endowment grant and community vision, the project will include 14,200 square feet of new construction and a transformative renovation of existing spaces. Designed by Elevatus, the facility will introduce licensed full-day childcare and expanded administrative offices to better serve families and support day-to-day operations.
Renovations will reimagine key interior areas—including the membership desk, lounge, Childwatch, and Parks Department office—infusing them with new energy, function, and flow. Upgrades to the existing pool enclosure will enhance comfort and efficiency with modern lighting, interior finishes, and improved dehumidification systems.
A striking second-floor addition will house a wellness center and group exercise studios, while a signature architectural overhang will extend the facility’s offerings outdoors, making space for open-air fitness classes, events, and gatherings.
Future phases of the project may include a medical partner onsite and locker room renovations, further expanding access to holistic health services.
Set to break ground in September 2025 with completion targeted for fall 2026, the new Vigo County YMCA is being designed as a vibrant, flexible, and community-centered space—one that reflects Terre Haute’s momentum and the YMCA’s mission to strengthen spirit, mind, and body for all.
