The Schererville Family YMCA was eager to expand its programming but faced a significant challenge: a lack of space. When a nearby warehouse became available, it opened the door to a transformative opportunity.
It would take some ingenuity, however, to merge two very distinct spaces and navigate an elevation change to create a seamless and inviting environment. With proven expertise in additions, renovations, and designing YMCAs as family destinations, Elevatus was the partner the project needed.
In close collaboration with YMCA leadership, board members, and the Construction Manager, the design team reimagined the facility to bring the community together, inspire healthy living, and create a true family destination.
The expanded facility will feature youth indoor turf fields with spectator seating, a bouldering wall, an elevated indoor track, and a welcoming café. Families will enjoy an enhanced Kid’s Zone and Kid’s Club, while outdoor spaces like a fitness turf and plaza offer new opportunities for recreation. Additional studios, expanded locker rooms, and more restrooms ensure the space meets the needs of every member.
More than a renovation, this project reflects a deep commitment to community impact. By expanding programming and amenities, the new Schererville Family YMCA will serve as the central hub for Crossroads YMCA, inspiring healthier lives, stronger families, and deeper connections for generations to come.
