PCs and 18 servers—all maintained by System Administrator Mark Conlogue.
Mark
talked to us about what software asset management means to him.
“It’s just one less thing to worry about,” he says. “Software
asset management
means no surprises. I can walk up to any machine or any server and know
exactly what software is loaded and who loaded it.”
He credits the
software management policies he put in place 5 years ago (when he was
running just two servers) with making his job more predictable
and helping him work more efficiently. “I don’t have to put
in 60, 70 hours
a week,” Mark says. “I can’t remember the last time I
lost a server.
Everything runs, everything is up, everything works.”
