Conrad Industries specializes in the construction, conversion, and repair of a wide variety of marine vessels for commercial and government customers. Founded in 1948, the company quickly expanded its business to include repairs, construction, and increased production capabilities across four facilities.

Over the past 50+ years, Conrad Industries has grown in a variety of ways. They now employ 350 employees at four different locations. What once was an
8-to-5 business is now a
24-hour-a-day operation.

While the workforce generates revenue with hard labor and raw materials, behind the scenes, technology is playing an increasingly important role in helping this growing company operate more efficiently.

No one understands this better than Conrad Industries’ Director of Information Technology, David Landry. “Technology is critical in completing our processes,” David explains. “Our employees need regular, reliable access to information. And they need to be able to communicate efficiently—whether they’re at an office, at home, or at a shack on the jobsite.”

Although David clearly sees the value technology brings
to the business, his biggest challenge is getting executive management to see technology as an investment, not an expense. “In order to do this, you have to put it in their terms, which are ROI, profitability, efficiency—those types of things.” Good software asset management has helped him build that case.

With over 70 workstations to manage, David invested in a
low-cost third-party system that provides auditing functions
and features, as well as inventory. “I’m able to tell within minutes now what used to take me weeks or even months to determine,” David explains. Not only does it save him time, it gives him the tangible data he needs to prove the value of his technology investments to executive management. “We know exactly what software assets we have so that we can maximize our investment and reduce costs down the road,” he says. “It also gives us more security and more reliability.”

Above all, software asset management has helped Conrad Industries ensure their systems are secure and always up and running. That way, they can stay focused on what they do best—delivering exceptional products and services to their customers.
